It has been quite an experience doing up the Frontier Community Shed Mural. I went down first on Friday to pencil in the outlines so that the Community committee members could come by to lend their hands over the weekend. I was so worried that it would rain hard, but still went ahead because a task is a task and it had to be completed. Over the next 2 days, I facilitated the committee members and residents to complete the mural which will always serve as a labour of love for their neighbourhood.
Thank you for all the help I got over the weekend! I am truly humbled by your willingness to help me with this project!
Coming up with an original illustration for a community site has always been something I really enjoy. The initial meet up with the client and a casual chat allows me to understand the community spirit behind each neighbourhood. In Singapore, themes such as - Community Bonding, Racial Harmony, Dynamism, Vibrancy and All Roundedness, are always expressed through artworks commissioned for public spaces.
Here, Im sharing some of the initial drawings for the design.
Every project has its challenges - and for this project, the wall that has been chosen for this mural is the highest I’ve been tasked to do. I’m trying not to get over freaked out by the height of this project but focus on the visuals. A larger surface area means I get to draw as much as I like! After this, I’m gonna put all these small illustrations together into a layout and add some colours. Thats the part I like best - can’t wait to get everything scanned and coloured!
Will keep the documentation going, so stay tune!

Tonight, I decided to start writing an artist blog. I have always kept a sketchbook and a scheduler to write my thoughts, sketch my ideas and to keep small notes on interesting characters I see. I hope that through this blog, you’ll learn about my thought process and also get to know me a little more even though you might not have met me.
I hope that through art, you’ll get to understand the world around you a little better and also cultivate a sensibility to the way you perceive life.
Expect to some images of my work in progress, videos of messy tables and a load of ideas that you may like to try out for yourself too!
With my anticipation, I hope that you’ll keep coming back to visit.
